Q1. Can I have another person attend Savvy Patient School with me?

Absolutely! I encourage that you do so.

I firmly believe we should each have a person (advocate) who attends all of our appointments with us. I believe this so strongly that I am allowing that person access along with you. It is especially valuable for siblings who share the duties of caring for an elderly parent to attend together. It enables each to accompany the parent on appointments or if the parent lives with each for periods of time, it greatly facilitates the transfer of information between siblings and health care givers in both locations.

Q 2. Can I speak to someone by phone if I have a specific question?

While I prefer e-mail questions, I do take calls if the need arises between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST at 336-529-0441.

Q 3. What can I expect to get from attending Savvy Patient School?

The list of benefits is very long. The key things you can expect to get are:

  • Your personal Savvy Patient Health Record set up and ready to use.
  • A full set of Critical Questions at your fingertips so you can ask the questions you need to ask when you need to ask them in situations such as - when you receive a diagnosis, told you need surgery, a new medication, and more...
  • The ability to use your medical information to communicate more effectively with your clinicians - tell a complete and thorough story that helps them listen, think of multiple possibilities rather than settling on a premature diagnosis or treatment, greatly increased chance of getting the best care possible and prevent medical errors.
  • My full energy and everything I know poured out to you.
  • My availability (free time) after each session to answer your questions.

Q 4. How does the Money-Back Guarantee work?

I believe so strongly in the power of the Savvy Patient Health Record and the guidelines for use that I am willing to offer this guarantee. It has changed the way my husbands and I handle our care and interact with our clinicians dramatically. Many others have said the same thing. Even if they don't set up a full notebook and use as I have suggested, they have said the Critical Question Series alone was worth the money spent.

The Guarantee is here, on the Home Page and behind its own tab at the top of the page.

  • Someone who wants to obtain the best care possible regardless of circumstance.

The Savvy Patient School is for you!

Note: The book is being used as a text in nursing schools.

Q 6. Is this just the same information I read about and see on TV and How is the Savvy Patient Health Record Different from other Personal Health Records?

It has been said, "There is nothing new on this earth."

Each of the concepts and suggestions in The Savvy Patient's Toolkit & School has been said in someway at some time. However, they have not been pulled together and applied in this way before.

Article after article, book after book give you lists of things to do to obtain better health care, but none give you the processes and tools to make it happen.

Many medical record journals and personal health record formats are available, but none I have found capture all the details and the details are lost forever -details that can mean a faster, more accurate diagnosis or even save a life. Nor do other personal medical records capture our detailed medical information in a way that gives true fingertip access to all of your medical history and ongoing care making it available in seconds at the point of need.

The forms in the Savvy Patient Health Record are constructed in a way to help you learn about your illnsses, treatments, options, etc. The forms and the coaching you receive help you tie the pieces of your story together for better doctor patient communication - the right information, in the right way, at the right time resulting in timelier and more accurate diagnoses. See the home page for more reasons. They are numerous.
